Best Gifts for Garden Lovers, 2024

Nothing like a little hair of the dog to cure your Black Friday and Cyber Monday hangover. Since it's the season of shopping and gifting and here are the tools, toys, and other garden-centric goodies that I've turned to over and over this year. Without further ado, here are the best gifts for garden lovers of all types for 2024 (many are still on sale too)!

While NYC is the hub for most fashion trends, it's England where many of the garden world's trends launch from. And one of my favorite English landscape designers, Jinny Blom, has recently released a new book titled "What Makes a Garden: A Considered Approach to Garden Design." I'm smitten with the stunning photography and thought-provoking prose – my copy is already dog-eared with inspirational images to turn back to.

Ooni outdoor pizza oven on our patio.
We love how compact the Ooni pizza oven is and how quickly it cooked up our pies.

It's a bit of a splurge, but as a pizza-obsessed family we've have had so much fun with this easy-to-use and compact pizza oven. I can't say enough about how quickly it cooks up delicious pies (and more). Be sure to get yourself an extra-large peel for easy handling to and from the oven, and the infrared thermometer to track internal temps.

The kids loved searching for friendly bumble bees to capture in the garden this summer.
The kids loved searching for friendly bumble bees to capture in the garden this summer.

I got one of these sets for Colt and Murphy this year and was thrilled with how much they loved using it and the curiosity it sparked outdoors and in the gardens. They both were able to open and close the latch on the cage without my help and the various tools included managed to hold up. Heads up that you may end up being responsible for freeing A LOT of bumblebees at the end of the day.

My faithful hori hori is my most-used and loved garden tool.

From weeding to planting bulbs to dividing perennials, this stainless steel hori-hori is my most-used and go-to tool for a litany of gardening tasks (and was gifted to me by Clint and Rachel. Thanks, guys!). Everyone who gardens needs one of these in their tool bag.

Whether you're gifting to a seasoned house plant enthusiast or newbie, a red maranta (aka Prayer Plant) is a gorgeous and uber easy-to-care-for plant for all types. They thrive in bright to medium light conditions, appreciate 1x weekly waterings, and are non-toxic to pets. I know I can count on The Sill for healthy plants and stylish planters – especially the Westcott in Cream.

Best Stocking Stuffers:

  • Butterfly, Bug and Wildflower Regional Guides

    Butterflies of the Northeast Guide
We love browsing through our Butterflies of the Northeast Guide to see which ones are in our garden.

The kiddos and I all enjoyed seeing which butterflies and moths we could find at in our garden. I'll be getting the bug and wildflower ones for them next.

  • Soil Moisture Sensors

Nothing has helped accelerate my understanding of a particular potted plants watering needs faster than this handy little tool. I currently use these subtle soil moisture sensors on a large potted palm in Michael's office and for our front porch boxwood balls and they're game changers for preventing over and under-watering. Shout out to Matt and Carolyn for turning me on to these!
